The Proposed Project

The Department of National Defence (DND) is proposing a project. The project includes the construction of a new fire hall and associated workshop at Canadian Forces Ammunition Depot (CFAD) Rocky Point. The current fire hall is inadequate for the current personnel and limited in its functions.

This new fire hall and workshop are to be located to the east of the existing fire hall on Rocky Point Road, near the main entrance to CFAD Rocky Point. The proposed site is a piece of land that has already been leveled and graveled. Prior to construction, a generator, tower and high-voltage power and communications lines on the east side of the exiting fire hall will be relocated.

The proposed main fire hall building will be approximately 720 m2 and the proposed adjacent workshop building will be 435 m2. There is also a small storage room proposed to be 42 m2. New utilities will be installed as required, along with a backup generator for the new fire hall. A portion of the proposed site will be paved for parking and vehicle access, and the remainder will be landscaped. After the new fire hall and workshop are constructed and operational, the existing fire hall will be demolished.
