Michipicoten First Nation Construction of Two Residential Multiplexes

Michipicoten First Nation is proposing to construct two (2) new pre-fabricated multiplex residential buildings to increase housing capacity in community. One buildling includes three (3) - two bedroom units and the second building consists of six (6) - two bedroom units. Each unit is ~150 m². The selected lots are on developed land and will have septic systems installed, with connections to the existing hydro and water lines in the community. The total area estimated for construction on both lots is 4,500 m².


Latest update

May 11, 2026 – Indigenous Services Canada intends to make a determination regarding whether the carrying out of the project is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects. To help inform this determination, Indigenous Services Canada is inviting public comments until June 12, 2026 respecting that determination.
