Carma Farms Barn Expansion

The proponent is requesting the construction of a building addition to the southern side of an existing barn that is currently being used as a storefront for Carma Farms (11471 Ninth Line) within Rouge National Urban Park. The proposed project area currently features a barn, produce market, outbuildings, and farm animal feeding experience. The proposed additional structure includes a storage area, kitchen, open indoor area, and covered patio. This structure would be built upon an area that previously was a greenhouse, then patio. The area for construction is currently unused and backfilled with fieldstone. There are also remnants of the old greenhouse foundation. The estimated completion time is mid-late 2026. 

Latest update

June 12, 2026 – Parks Canada intends to make a determination regarding whether the carrying out of the project is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects. To help inform this determination, Parks Canada is inviting public comments until July 12, 2026 respecting that determination.
