Deadman River Crossing 5 Permanent Erosion Mitigation Project

Westcoast Energy GP Inc. (Westcoast) on behalf of Westcoast Energy Limited Partnership, is proposing to replace up to 165 metres each of nominal pipe size (NPS) 30 and NPS 36 pipe at an increased depth of cover through the Deadman River crossing using trenched construction techniques (Project). Bank armoring will be installed within the right-of-way to protect the banks from erosion. The existing NPS 36 pipe will be replaced, with the existing section removed. Westcoast is proposing two potential options for the decommissioned segment of the NPS 30 pipeline at the river crossing and will determine which option Westcoast proceeds with during Project execution. The two possible options being investigated are either to fully remove the existing NPS 30 pipe, or if during construction, removal is deemed not feasible due to Fisheries and Oceans Canada's applicable least risk timing window, safety, or constructable feasibility, the pipeline will be decommissioned in place at the river crossing.

The Project footprint is located on federal lands, Skeetchestn Indian Reserve #0, approximately 41 kilometres northwest of Kamloops, British Columbia. Westcoast plans to complete construction from 1 January 2027 to 1 October 2028.
